The role of the Corporate Chef is to work with Palermo's brand and development team to create innovative food concepts and recipes for the Palermo’s brand team as well as key private label companies. The Corporate Chef’s position combines food and tend research, hands-on cooking, high level innovation and product development with on-site customer presentations. Palermo's Corporate Chef’s must be passionate about food and working with people.


  • Works primarily with Palermo's brand team and key private label accounts.
  • Will understand customer initiatives, goals, objectives and retail execution.
  • Pro-actively engages brand and development team to work on set objectives.
  • Develops solid working relationships with customer contacts through building rapport, earning trust and being the customer’s culinary contact.
  • Reports to Vice President of R&D and Marketing.
  • Works with brand and development team to set gold standards
  • Is constantly innovating based on the goals of the company and department.
  • Has a good understanding of GMP's and will adhere to them at all times.
  • Works on a variety of projects including menu concept development, product development, customer work sessions and other company and customer related projects as needed.
  • Will become an expert in Palermo's processes and capabilities.
  • Conducts compelling and engaging presentations with confidence in group or private settings.
  • Is the main culinary contact with key customers.
  • Works with a cross functional team of Palermo's employees.
  • Cooks with a high degree of execution particularly while under pressure and during customer presentations.
  • Attend and support trade shows and special events as needed.
  • Cooks, preps and grocery shops as needed to support individual and/or team presentations.
  • Performs culinary product application tests as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned and needed.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Culinary Arts required.
  • Three years prior experience as a Corporate Chef for a food manufacturer or national restaurant chain.
  • Practical cooking experience: 4 years minimum.

Cooking & Related Skills:

  • Exceptional knife handling skills.
  • Good understanding of commercial restaurant cooking equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of food ingredients including handling, origin, cooking application, flavor combinations and sensory attributes.
  • Understands back of house operations as well as manufacturing environments.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Must be energetic, passionate and very comfortable cooking and presenting to Palermo’s customers.
  • Must interact in a positive and professional way with all employees, co‐workers and customers.
  • Must be capable of effectively communicating in writing and verbally.
  • Must be a good listener.

Organizational Skills:

  • Must be proactive.
  • Can manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Must have strong time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Computer Skills:

  • Must have a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Should have experience building specs, recipes and should know how to work with recipe generating software.
