Overview

The HR Generalist manages the administration of human resource policies, procedures and programs. Responsibilities are focused in the following functional areas: employment and orientation/on-boarding, training and development, employee relations, safety and workers compensation, compliance and employment law, and human resources metrics. As required, assists in the areas of organization development; company-wide committee facilitation; company-wide employee communication.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce including employment regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining employee orientation/on-boarding and training programs
  • Ensures company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements.
  • Assists in defining training programs. Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, and standardized reports.
  • Assist in the formulation and recommendation of Human Resource policies and objectives for the company with regard to employment practices and employee relations.
  • Facilitates employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.Interfaces directly with employees having workplace or personal issues. Responds to questions and assists employees with issues and how to utilize resources and tools available to them.
  • Ensure all appropriate paperwork is processed accurately and timely for new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions and terminations.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company.
  • Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
  • Monitor and report Human Resource metrics for employment, workforce stability, on-boarding, etc.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 and 301 reports, ensure accuracy and post when necessary.
  • Manage workers compensation, including 1st report of injury, case management, and return to work programs.

Qualifications

  • Extensive recruitment experience, including knowledge and application of best practices and recruiting techniques, thorough understanding of current electronic mediums, and recruitment sources.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment to include Outlook, Excel, and Power-Point.
  • Knowledge and practical use of HRIS systems (ADP preferred), and experience with database management and record keeping requirements.
  • Experience in the administration of employment, training and other Human Resources programs.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Human Resources, Business, and Organization Development experience including 8 to 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Professional Certification in Human Resources a plus.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement, preferred.
  • Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.
